There are many new build and off plan
apartments for sale as well as re-sale in the Side area.
Most apartments are built in purpose built blocks and can
have 1-4 bedrooms, often an open plan kitchen-lounge and
1 or 2 bathrooms. |

These are similar to what we Europeans call "maisonettes".
They are usually built on 2 floors similar to a normal house
with a bathroom, kitchen-lounge downstairs and 2-4 bedrooms
upstairs with bathrooms. Often duplexes are built one on
top of the other or on the top of an apartment and built
on a complex.

You will have a choice of a re-sale,
off plan or design and build properties. Some houses are
based on a complex with shared facilites and a monthly maintenance
charge. Others are private properties built to your specifications

people an apartment makes a sensible choice of holiday home but may
not offer you what you are looking for in a home. You will need to
decide what you are prepared to sacrifice in order to buy what is
best for your circumstances.

- You may have the use of a shared large swimming pool and
other facilites and these are of great advantage if you want
to let your property
- Apartments are often offer beter security. You will often
have private parking and a security guard
- You have ready-made neighbours who can for example, turn
on the electricity before you arrive and prepare the home for
your arrival
- If bought off plan or as a new-build all major repairs to
the building
- You always have someone to borrow a cup of sugar from!

- You will have to pay monthly or annual contribution to
the cost of the general maintenace of the block and-or site
where you live
- There may be no private outside area and often your balconies
will also be overlooked
- There may be a shared pool and other facilities which you
are sharing the cost of annually but possibly only using it
for a few weeks
- There may not be a lot of storage space
- You will have immediate neighbours who may be noisy. Until
recently sound installation was not good
